Used car website autoquake.com today called in administrators MCR to oversee the disposal of the business assets, according to a statement on the Autoquake.com website.
‘Please be advised that Matthew Bond and Jason Godefroy of MCR were appointed Joint Administrators of the Company on 17 March 2011.If you are a customer or supplier of the Company and have any queries, please direct these to the Company's call centre on 0844 800 9406, in the first instance. If you are interested in purchasing any of the assets of the Company including the Company's domain name and e-commerce platform, please contact MCR directly on 020 7487 7240.
Autoquake.com was founded in 2005 by Fredrik Skantze and Jeanette Moskovits and is backed by Accel Partners and Highland Capital Partners, two venture capital firms. Autoquake.com sold 5,000 cars in 2008 and according to Hitwise, it was the 3rd most visited car dealer website in the UK during the 1st half of 2009, says Wikipedia.
Recent rumours linked Autoquake with a joint venture with Tesco to sell cars online, which looks to have fallen down with today’s sad news.
John Hogan at Motoring.co.uk commented "Autoquake.com’s business model was to market ex-fleet cars from large business fleets without the expense of a traditional dealer site. It appears that the dealer model is still alive and kicking."
John Hogan writes for motoring.co.uk finding you the best deals on new cars and offers a free car valuation to help you get the best price for you old car. Visit motoring.co.uk today for your free car valuation.
