British burglars are more likely to target properties with Ford Mondeo class company cars parked outside than those with more prestigious vehicles, according to The Sun. In a survey of twenty-four alleged criminals awaiting trial, the consensus was that targeting large houses with expensive machinery on the driveway is too risky as the properties probably have excellent security systems.
By contrast, the crafty crooks conclude that a modern company car parked outside a middle-class semi-detached suggests the owners have a reasonable income - but not the ultimate security. On this basis vehicles such as the Vauxhall Insignia, Citroen C5, and Toyota Avensis can draw unexpected attention to their driver's properties. Presumably, motorists with a couple of Ferraris parked outside their mansion can sleep soundly.
